Buffalo man pleads guilty for injuring victim in Niagara Street shooting

Reyes, 39-year-old Buffalo man, known as "Ericcito," has pleaded guilty to multiple counts of attempted murder and assault in the second degree (class “B” violent felony) and one count of attempted assault. Reyes intentionally shot multiple shots at the victim with an illegal pistol during a dispute on the 1500 block of Niagara Street in 2020. The male victim was treated for multiple gunshot wounds but managed to escape and escape. Reyes faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 12. The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the felony trials bureau.

Acting Erie County District Attorney Michael J. Keane announced 39-year-old Eric J. Reyes, also known as “Ericcito,” of Buffalo pleaded guilty yesterday afternoon before Erie County Court Judge Kenneth Case to:
√ One count of attempted murder in the second degree (class “B” violent felony)
√ One count of attempted assault in the first degree (class “C” violent felony)
√ One count of criminal possession of a weapon in the second degree (class “C” violent felony)
√ One count of assault in the second degree (class “D” violent felony)
On Sept. 6, 2020, at approximately 5:26 p.m., the defendant intentionally fired multiple shots at the victim with an illegal pistol during a dispute. The incident occurred on a patio outside of a restaurant on the 1500 block of Niagara Street in the City of Buffalo.
The male victim suffered multiple gunshot wounds but was able to run to Potomac Avenue where he was picked up in a private vehicle and driven to ECMC. He was treated for multiple injuries to his buttocks and right leg and released from the hospital.
Reyes faces a maximum of 25 years in prison when he is sentenced on July 12. Over the People’s objection, the defendant continues to be out of custody on $150,000 bail.
Keane commends the Buffalo Police Department gun violence unit for its work in this investigation.
The case was prosecuted by Assistant District Attorney Ryan M. Flaherty of the felony trials bureau.
