Buffalo Police arrest daycare director on child endangerment charges

Buffalo Police have charged a daycare director, Mary Goodwill, with child endangerment for allegedly endangering the welfare of a child. The charges stem from a verbal altercation between a 17-year-old female who felt the director was harming a child and was pushed out of the classroom in front of children. The daycare has been temporarily shut down for a week while an investigation continues. Parents have voiced concerns on social media and Erie County Child Protective Services and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services are investigating the allegations.

A Kensington Avenue daycare director has been arrested and charged with child endangerment.

BUFFALO, N.Y. — A Kensington Avenue daycare employee has been arrested and charged by Buffalo Police for endangering the welfare of a child on Tuesday.

Around noon officers responded to a call at the daycare on the 300 block of Kensington Avenue, where a 17-year-old female had gotten into a verbal altercation with the daycare's director. During the altercation it was mentioned that the 17-year-old felt that the director had been allegedly harming a child.

The 17-year-old was physically pushed out of the classroom in front of children.

Daycare director Mary Goodwill, 52, of Tonawanda has been charged with one count of endangering the welfare of a child and one count of harassment in the second degree.

More parents have since then been speaking out on social media in regards to the allegations, and Erie County Child Protective Services and the NYS Office of Children and Family Services have been on scene to investigate the claims made by parents. The daycare voluntarily shut down for the week while an investigation continues.
