Talk show host veteran Oprah Winfrey is recovering after being sent to the emergency room with a stomach virus and dehydration.

The 70-year-old missed a scheduled appearance on "CBS Mornings" Tuesday where she was set to announce her latest Oprah's Book Club selection.

Longtime friend Gayle King helped set the record straight about Winfrey's health during a FaceTime chat and shared part of the conversation on Instagram.

During the call, Winfrey said, "I was in the emergency room, I was so dehydrated. had a dry mouth and I couldn't keep enough water down to get hydrated, so I went to the emergency room for that, and that's just it."

She then shared that while she's not feeling 100% yet she is on her way adding multiple people in her household also fell ill with the same virus.

Winfrey encouraged people to wash their hands to try and prevent getting sick saying the doctor told her it can be transmitted through door knobs and railings.

"Ms. Winfrey is recovering following a stomach virus and received an IV due to dehydration at the recommendation of her doctor," a representative told CNN in a statement Tuesday. "She is resting and feeling better every day."

During the call, Winfrey confirmed her book club pick is New York Times best-seller "Familiaris" by David Wroblewski.
