The U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has lifted its marketing ban on Juul Labs' vaping products, pending further scientific review. The agency stated that there was insufficient evidence regarding the toxicological profile of the products to substantiate the marketing of these products that met the public health standard required by law. The U.S. Food and Drug Administration rescinded its marketing ban on vaping products made by Juul Labs.

The government agency announced Thursday that it was lifting it marketing denial order it had placed on the e-cigarette maker.

Juul's products can be sold while the FDA conducts a "scientific review."

A news release noted that there wasn't "sufficient evidence regarding the toxicological profile of the products to demonstrate that the marketing of the products met the public health standard required by law."

The FDA pointed out that rescinding the marketing ban, "does not indicate whether the applications are likely to be authorized or denied."

In June 2022, Juul Labs was denied to market its products like devices, tobacco and menthol-flavored pods.

According to Juul, its pods contain 5% or 3% nicotine concentration.

It's unknown when a final decision on whether or not Juul Labs products can ultimately stay on the market.

Juul responded Thursday saying it looks forward to working again with the FDA on the scientific review.

The American Lung Association was "deeply troubled" by the FDA's announcement, according to ABC News. The agency was asked by the association to deny all Juul products and cited the company's role in the "youth e-cigarette epidemic from 2017-2019."
