McGuire Real Estate Services, a Cheektowaga-based real estate company, has changed its name to NAI McGuire, joining a global network of commercial real estate brokers. This move CEO F. James McGuire hopes it will give the company a broader reach and help them expand nationally. Despite the name changing, McGuire still owns the company and calls the shots. The affiliation deal only applies to McGuire's Western New York offices. The company's development arm will continue to operate separately from NAI.

A Cheektowaga-based real estate company is now part of a global network of more than 5,000 brokers.
McGuire Real Estate Services is now NAI McGuire after joining a global organization of commercial real estate brokers.
It's a move CEO F. James McGuire hopes will give the Cheektowaga-based firm a broader reach.
"It's just looking for more leads from out-of-town companies that want to establish a presence in Buffalo, and helping our Buffalo clients expand nationally," he said.
McGuire joined NAI Global, a firm with 325 offices worldwide. This will be the firm's only Western New York office.
Though the name has changed, McGuire still owns the company and calls the shots, he said.
"What I like about NAI is it allows the individual operators in any given region to have complete flexibility and control over how they deal with their clients," he said.
He said he and his team looked into several opportunities to affiliate with a larger network before choosing NAI. Terms of the deal were not available.
The affiliation relates primarily to McGuire's brokerage and property management services. Its development arm will continue to operate separately from NAI, according to McGuire.
Ongoing development projects like the Rails apartment community on Main Street and the Buffalo Public Schools commissary will not be affected, McGuire said.
The affiliation deal only applies to McGuire's Western New York offices. The company also has offices in Fort Lauderdale, Fla., which will not operate under the NAI umbrella.
McGuire Development and NAI McGuire have a combined 28 employees. F. James McGuire founded the company in 2006.
McGuire is the region's 10th-largest commercial real estate developer, as measured by square footage of its Western New York portfolio, according to Buffalo Business First's most recent ranking.
It's also the region's 14th-largest property management company and 16th-largest commercial real estate firm.
