A Boys & Girls Club in Buffalo receives eclipse glasses
The healthcare group donated 1,000 pairs of glasses so local kids could safely experience the rare celestial event on April 8. Since Buffalo Public Schools will be closed for the eclipse, the Boys & Girls Clubs in the city will also be closed, as there are no buses to transport students. UnitedHealthCare donated a total of 10,000 eclipse glasses across the country in collaboration with Prevent Blindness.

Some of the kids at the Boys and Girls Club on Massachusetts Avenue in Buffalo received their very own solar eclipse glasses Tuesday night, thanks to the donation of UnitedHealthcare of New York.
The healthcare group donated 1,000 pairs of glasses so local kids could safely experience the rare celestial event on April 8.
"It's my pleasure to kind of be part of an organization that has tried to educate our young kids around communities and schools around the country and around the state. I'm proud to say that our company has donated over 1,000 glass glasses that can be used during the eclipse," said Dr. Greg Carnevale, Chief Medical Officer for UnitedHealthcare NY.
UnitedHealthcare donated a total of 10,000 solar eclipse glasses to school districts and nonprofits across the country in collaboration with Prevent Blindness.
Since Buffalo Public Schools will be closed for the eclipse the Boys and Girls Clubs in the city will also be closed since there won't be any busses to bring students to the five centers.
