The measure was co-sponsored by Sens. Rick Scott, R-Florida, J.D. Vance, and Rep. Michael Cloud. Several Republican lawmakers introduced a new bill Wednesday aimed at minimizing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) initiatives at the federal level.

The bill, introduced by Sens. Rick Scott, R- Fla., J.D. Vance, R- Ohio, and Rep Michael Cloud, R- Texas, is titled the "Dismantle DEI Act." The proposed law would rescind several executive orders and memoranda devoted to DEI. It would also direct all federal DEI offices to close and revoke any required DEI trainings.

Sens. Marsha Blackburn, R- Tenn., Bill Cassidy, R-La., Kevin Cramer, R-N.D., Eric Schmitt, R-Mo., and 15 other representatives all co=sponsored the measure.

“The DEI agenda is a destructive ideology that breeds hatred and racial division,” Sen. Vance added. “It has no place in our federal government or anywhere else in our society.”

President Biden has made DEI a hallmark of his presidency. In May, he described it as a “core strength of America.”

Lawmakers last month launched a probe into DEI initiatives at the Pentagon, condemning the Department of Defense’s “emphasis on diversity and inclusion over mission effectiveness and capability concerns our nation’s national security and safety,”
